General Authority for Exhibitions & Conferences

About the Authority

The General Authority for Exhibitions & Conferences is a Libyan governmental entity with legal personality and independent financial autonomy. It operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, with its headquarters located in Tripoli.

The Authority is responsible for regulating, organizing, and developing the exhibitions and conferences sector in Libya, in accordance with Cabinet Decision No. (783) of 2024, to support the national economy and enhance Libya’s integration into regional and international markets.

Vision

To become a leading national platform for exhibitions and conferences, contributing effectively to economic development, export growth, and positioning Libya as a regional hub for economic and trade events.

Mission

To organize, manage, and develop exhibitions and conferences in line with international best practices, promoting national products and services, encouraging investment, activating public–private partnerships, and fostering sustainable local and international economic relations.

Strategic Objectives

• Support and promote national exports and Libyan products locally and internationally.
• Enhance economic growth and trade exchange.
• Develop and regulate the exhibitions and conferences industry in Libya.
• Encourage private sector participation in economic events.

Core Functions

• Organizing and supervising local, regional, and international exhibitions and conferences.
• Managing and investing in exhibition and conference centers and related facilities, directly or through specialized companies.
• Granting approvals and coordinating the organization of exhibitions and conferences inside and outside Libya.
• Regulating, registering, and classifying exhibition and conference organizing companies.
• Representing Libya in regional and international exhibitions and conferences organizations.
• Enhancing economic, technical, scientific, and cultural cooperation through exhibitions and conferences.

Legal Framework

The Authority operates under Cabinet Decision No. (783) of 2024, enjoys administrative and financial independence, and performs its duties in accordance with applicable national laws and regulations.

Economic Role

The Authority plays a vital role in supporting trade and investment by connecting producers, exporters, importers, and investors, facilitating market access, and using exhibitions and conferences as strategic tools for economic development and international cooperation.
